(Writing children’s books as T. Lynne Martin, science fiction, fantasy, and cozies as T.L. Gryfen and Trae Vincent)
Tracie Martin was born in 1974 in New Jersey to a lively Puerto Rican father and a Polish/Hungarian mother with zero tolerance for repeat performances of Green Eggs and Ham. By the age of three, Tracie was reading on her own—partly out of determination, partly out of parental exasperation—and by five she was tackling War and Peace and Ulysses because, well… why not?
At nine, she came down with a lifelong case of “writer’s disease,” producing poems, plays, and stories that friends and family were strongly encouraged to read or act out. Her early career detoured into the Navy when a recruiter promised her a journalism billet and delivered a gig as a “weather bunny” instead (a highly technical position that involves looking out the window and reporting what’s happening).
From there, she turned to the visual arts, earning her BFA in Digital Design/Visual Communication summa cum laude in 2006 and working in graphic and web design. But the stories never stopped whispering in her ear, and eventually they demanded more than the occasional doodle or design—they wanted full worlds.
Today, Tracie writes across genres and age groups:
As T. Lynne Martin — whimsical, imaginative children’s books like Princess Sorbet, Unicorn Adventures, filled with rainbow-maned unicorns, dragons, foxes, and just enough science disguised as fun.
As T.L. Gryfen — rich, adventurous science fiction and fantasy for adults and YA, often laced with stardust and mischief.
As Trae Vincent — cozy mysteries with a twist, whether that twist is set among the stars (sci-fi cozies) or in a haunted small town (paranormal cozies).
Her stories always share one thing: a little bit of magic, whether it’s found in a spaceship’s engine room, a dusty library, or the sparkle of a unicorn’s tiara. She firmly believes life is better with wonder, and that reaching for the stars often leads to the best kind of unexpected adventures.
When she’s not writing or designing covers for her fellow authors, Tracie can be found in Alamogordo, New Mexico, stargazing, plotting her next story, or hanging out with her three very large dogs—who are convinced they’re lap-sized.

Today I went bye byes with the momma and the Tracie for the very last time.
Momma says I have something called cancer, and her eyes leak when she says it. All I know is I lost a toe nail, from my back foot this time, and blood keeps pouring out of the place my toenail was. No matter how much I lick it, the blood keeps coming, it's swollen like a buzzy stung me, and it hurts like it's on fire.
